Pepper Pinch is a ten-almost-eleven-year-old witch with a largish magical nose who just wants to be good at her craft—except her potions keep exploding! But when the Grimm Twins ransack her family’s workshop and steal the most dangerous grimoire in all the Land, Pepper knows her magical sense of smell is the only thing that can track them down. 

With the help of her librarian best friend and her sassy bird sidekick, Pepper follows the Twins to the Eville Queen’s castle, but a griffin guards the entrance. So when they bump into Neviline White, the runaway princess, and she promises to sneak them into the castle if they protect her, their hopes to save the Land are restored.
