Professionally, I've written as a journalist and public relations specialist. I just finished a 15 year stint at the University of Virginia, mostly in central communications. I managed UVA's official Twitter account (it was recognized as the best university Twitter account in 2015) and wrote articles for UVA Today. While in central communications, my most read (and one of the most popular stories ever) was about alumnus Thomas Jones, a Black man who came from one of the poorest, most isolated communities in Southwest Virginia and went on to become a professional football player who successfully transitioned to acting.
